Children's Clothing
You are here: Information for Parents > Children's Clothing

Children have the most fun when they are being messy and creative, therefore we ask that you dress your child appropriately in clothes that you dont mind getting dirty.

Please also be aware that your child accesses outdoors everyday. Therefore they should always have appropriate clothing on for the weather outside and a hat, scarf and gloves in the cold months. Welly boots should also be kept in nursery.

Please also provide your child with a wet suit as we access outdoors in all weathers.

There are forms of dress which are unacceptable in our establishment, such as items of clothing which:

  • Potentially, encourage faction (such as football colours);
  • Could cause offence (such as anti religious symbolism or political slogans);
  • Could cause health and safety difficulties, such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings;
  • Carry advertising, particularly for alcohol or tobacco; and
  • Could be used to inflict damage on other children or be used by others to do so.?

Glasgow City Council is concerned at the level of claims being received regarding the loss of childrens’ and young peoples’ clothing and/or personal belongings.  Parents/Carers are asked to assist in this area by ensuring that valuable items and unnecessarily items of clothing are not brought to establishment.  Parents/Carers should note that the authority does not carry insurance to cover the loss of such items and any claims submitted are likely to be met only where the authority can be shown to have been negligent.

Sun Cream & Sun Hats

From the early stages of Spring, parents/carers will be asked to ensure their child attends nursery with sun cream applied .

If you child has sensitive skin or an allergy to sun cream then you will be asked to provide the necessary sun cream suitable for your child.  We purchase sun cream from our Nursery Fund.

On starting nursery we encourage all parents/carers to provide a sunhat. During periods of good weather all children attending nursery must wear a sunhat when learning outdoors. On very hot days children will not be outdoors during the hours of 11am-3pm unless they are in a shaded area.
