At Eastwood we offer the 'Think Equal' programme to our 3-5 children.
Think Equal is a programme for children aged 3-6. It focusses on building a child's social and emotional intelligence.
This helps children to:
- Manage their own emotions and impulsive behaviours
- Build their confidence and self esteem
- Have empathy and show consideration for others
- Solve problems effectively and learn to make responsible decisions
- Maintain healthy relationships and learn to collaborate
Why do we teach Social and Emotional Learning?
Supporting your child's social and emotional intelligence has been shown to improve academic results later in life, create social and connected children who build close relationships with peers/practitioners/teachers and decreases anger, anxiety and aggressive behaviours
How is the programme facilitated?
The programme runs for 30 weeks with three half-hour lessons each week. Each lesson focuses on an element of social and emotional learning. The programme using a variety of learning activities to do this.
How can I support my child's social and emotional learning at home?
We very much hope you will support your child in their learning by taking part in the home learning activities. Please make yourself familiar with the Think Equal display board in your child's playroom and in the corridor near reception.
